
Husband and wife team: Chef Chris and Brittany Remrey.
Chef Chris is a native of Clinton, Iowa. He credits his love for cooking and hospitality to his late grandmother, Joyce Gilbert. Spending many long but fun hours with his grandmother in her kitchen, he learned classic techniques and experimented with current fads. His over 22 years of food service experience began washing dishes and peeling potatoes at a local breakfast eatery in the Lyon’s district called Porky’s. He worked his way from the dish room to head line cook of a chain steak house in Clinton. Chris is a graduate of Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Boulder, Colorado. Chef Chris Remrey is probably best known for serving many events in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois with catering from the Clinton Hy-Vee store (Shown above). During his 18 years with Hy-Vee, Chris was employed as the assistant kitchen manager, catering manager and store retail chef. He is also a Chef instructor and has taught several groups culinary techniques. Currently, Chef Chris loves research and experimenting with cutting edge food science to develop menus for others that are passionate about great food. While he loves to experiment with molecular gastronomy and exotic ingredients, he prefers to use locally sourced sustainable products whenever possible.
Brittany is a native of Bettendorf, Iowa. She credits her passion for food to the freedom that her family allowed her in the kitchen while she was growing up. She enjoyed finding new ways to present foods that her younger siblings would enjoy and helping her family. Brittany has over 10 years of food service experience and was employed most recently with the Clinton, Iowa Hy-Vee as the kitchen manager and food service supervisor. Brittany is a current culinary school student at Auguste Escoffier School of Pastry Arts. Her interests lean more toward the artistic and patisserie side of the industry. Brittany’s charcuterie works have been appreciated by many local gourmands and leaders of the culinary community.
Chris and Brittany met in 2015 while working for Hy-Vee, and married in 2018. They are parents of five wonderful children. Chef Chris and Brittany enjoy virtually every aspect of the food service industry and their great community.
